Himura Battousai, badly injured, struggles step by step through the snow toward what becomes one of the defining moments of his life. He's bleeding from his scalp, his ear, and his scar and can barely place one foot in front of the other, but he persists, wavering between love and disbelief all the way. His labored breath crystallizes before him in the freezing air. If you haven't seen this first set of OVAs -- which precede the TV show chronologically -- get your box of tissues ready before you get to the end. You'll need them.
